Register for the Fall Virtual 5K Your Way

Girls on the Run of Lancaster and Lebanon has 244 girls on 24 teams participating in our program this fall!  Join these girls and their families and rally your communities around the most joyful event as we focus on activating their limitless potential.

An important aspect of the GOTR experience is setting and accomplishing goals, which the girls do by participating in a season-ending GOTR 5K. In the spirit of keeping all families moving forward, we are proud to offer an opportunity for girls and their families to lace up their sneakers for a fun, impactful, virtual event. We present to you the GOTR Virtual 5K Your Way! This virtual ‘5K’ will take place from November 20-22 and is open to and free for the community.

Run at your place, your pace, your way. Community Walkers and Runners are welcome. This will be a 5K (3.1 miles) that you complete with your family member(s) at home, anytime during the weekend of November 20-22nd.  You choose the time and place – your neighborhood, backyard, or living room – anywhere you like as long as you are following local social/physical distancing guidelines!

Upon registration for the FREE event, links for colorable bibs, a 5K training plan, Activity Cards and cheer signs will be sent to each participant.  This fall, particpants also have the option during registration to purchase a Virtual 5K Your Way presented by OAL race shirt and race bib for $25.

About Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.

Girls face social pressures and conflicting messages about how they should act and who they should be. Studies show that by adolescence, girls’ confidence drops about twice as much as boys’. Friendships become more complicated and challenging, girls’ perception of their academic ability declines, the likelihood of anxiety and depression increases and participation in physical activity plummets.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

We believe that EVERY GIRL is inherently FULL OF POWER and POTENTIAL. By knowing they are the leaders of their lives, these are the girls who WILL CHANGE THE WORLD.
