Following the announcement last week that Taylor Swift purchased the rights to the master recordings for her first six albums from Shamrock Holdings, streaming and sales for her albums surged dramatically. Overall streaming on Spotify for Swift’s entire catalog increased by 55.1% on Friday alone, with her songs receiving 30.64 million streams in one single day. The largest gains were seen in the original version of Speak Now with a 430% increase in streams globally, followed by her self-titled debut album with a 220% increase, and Reputation with a 160% increase. The original version of Fearless also saw a 160% increase, followed by Red with a 150% jump, while 1989 received a streaming bump of more than 110%. This streaming surge is expected to impact the Billboard 200 chart next week, with Swift’s early albums expected to make a reappearance on the tally. (Variety)
