While closing out the North American leg of her Radical Optimism Tour in Seattle on Thursday night (October 16), Dua Lipa was joined by Ben Gibbard for an acoustic duet of Death Cab for Cutie‘s “I Will Follow You Into the Dark.” This performance continued Lipa’s tradition of performing city-specific covers and collaborating with iconic hometown artists throughout her current tour. Introducing the stripped-down performance at Climate Pledge Arena, Lipa said: “I love this song for so many reasons. I feel like it just really defines what love is in such a pure form of wanting to follow somebody until the very end. I feel very lucky because this indie legend happens to be here tonight and he’s going to come up and perform with me.” Gibbard joins a list of special guests on Lipa’s North American tour that includes Lenny Kravitz, Gwen Stefani, Lionel Richie, and Billie Joe Armstrong, with additional covers likely when the tour resumes in Buenos Aires in November.
