Music Legends Wish Brian Wilson A Happy Birthday In Sweet Video

On Monday, a number of great musicians came together to celebrate Brian Wilson‘s 80th birthday with a medley of greetings recorded on video.

Sir Elton John opened the video with the message, “To me, you are the only real pop genius in the world and I love you very much.”

“Have a wonderful 80th birthday with Melinda and your family. I’m in Denmark but I send you so much love. You’ve inspired me all my life,” he added.

It was followed by special messages from Questlove, Smokey Robinson, Fleet Foxes, She & Him, Chuck D, John Cusack, David Crosby, Jeff Bridges, Al Jardine and more. Wilson’s former bandmate Al Jardine jokingly called himself “the guy who sings on your left.”

The seven-minute long video, titled “Happy 80th Birthday, Brian!” closes with Bob Dylan‘s acoustic rendition of “Happy Birthday” for the legendary Beach Boys co-founder and songwriter.
